U.S. ICE RINK NEWS Updates from the United States Ice Rink Association U.S. Ice Rink staff busy supporting industry events in 2018 U.S. Figure Skating In January, John Monteleone, Director – Education, served as an ice technician for the Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships held at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. USA Hockey In early February, Monteleone led the volunteer ice maintenance crew during the 13th annual USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship in Eagle River, Wis. This was the 12th year that U.S. Ice Rink staff have supported the ice operations component of this event. Regional Rink Management Associations In late April, U.S. Ice Rink staff will be attending the Wisconsin Ice Arena Management Association (WIAMA) and the Northeast Ice Skating Managers Association (NEISMA) annual spring conferences. During the WIAMA conference our staff will be leading various educational breakout sessions. Our staff will then travel to Lake Placid, N.Y., to conduct an Operations & Risk Management (ORM) course, and an Ice Making & Painting Technologies (IMPT) course for NEISMA members during their conference. We look forward to seeing you there! CIT Class of 2013—It's Time to Recertify! Individuals who have been awarded the CIT professional designation by the United States Ice Rink Association are required to recertify every five years from the year they originally achieved the CIT. In addition, CIT's must also renew their membership each year with the United States Ice Rink Association, to maintain their CIT status. Currently there are be two ways for individuals to recertify their CIT designation in 2018: 1. Successfully complete the written CIT recertification exam at the North American Rink Conference and Expo, May 22-25 in Columbus, Ohio. 2. Successfully complete the written CIT Recertification Exam, offered at any 2018 Regional Training Program location. Regional Training Program dates and locations will be published in the May/June issue of RINK Magazine, and available online at usicerinks.com/education. Online self-study materials will be available to individuals that register to take the CIT Recertification exam.
