The NBA CARIS LEVERT MAKES SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENT IN YEAR TWO Former Michigan and current Brooklyn Nets guard Caris LeVert saw improvement in every major cat- egory from his rookie campaign to his sophomore season in Brooklyn. The 6-7 guard increased his pro- duction in points (8.2 to 12.1), re- bounds (3.3 to 3.7), assists (1.9 to 4.2) and steals (0.9 to 1.2). He also saw an increased overall role for the Nets, with his minutes jumping from 21.7 to 26.3 per game. FORMER WOLVERINES ON NBA ROSTERS Through April 16 • Trey Burke (Played at U-M from 2011-13), PG, New York Knicks: Season came to an end April 11 with a 29-53 re- cord … Played in 36 games (nine starts) this year, while tying a career high with 12.8 points per game … Also averaged 4.7 assists per contest and shot 50.3 per- cent from the floor … Poured in a career- high 42 points in a 137-128 overtime loss at Charlotte March 26. • Jamal Crawford (1999-2000), SF, Minnesota Timberwolves: Played in 80 games and averaged 10.3 points per contest, helping lead Minnesota to a 47-35 record and a playoff appearance … Played 26 minutes and scored 15 points (all on threes) in a 104-101 loss to Houston April 15 in the opening game of a first-round playoff series. • Tim Hardaway Jr. (2010-13), SF, New York Knicks: Started 54 of the 57 games he appeared in this season, set- ting career highs in both scoring (17.5 points per game) and rebounds (3.9 per contest) … Averaged 19.5 points throughout March, including a 39-point performance in a 108-104 loss to Min- nesota March 23. • Caris LeVert (2012-16), SG, Brook- lyn Nets: Season ended April 11 with a 28-54 record … Started 10 of the 71 games he played in, and shot 43.5 per- cent from the floor and 34.7 percent from behind the arc. • Glenn Robinson III (2012-14), SF, Indiana Pacers: Underwent ankle sur- gery before the year, and only played in 23 games (one start) as a result … Averaged 14.7 minutes and 4.1 points for the 48-34 Pacers, en route to a play- off appearance … Did not see action in the team's 98-80 victory at Cleveland April 15 in the opening game of a first- round playoff series. • Nik Stauskas (2012-14), SG, Brook- lyn Nets: Was traded from Philadelphia to Brooklyn in early December, and went on to average 13.7 minutes and 5.1 points in 35 games for the 28-54 Nets … Did not play in 11 of Brooklyn's 13 March contests. • Derrick Walton Jr. (2013-17), PG, Miami Heat: Appeared in two games for a total of 10 minutes after Jan. 25 for the 44-38 Heat … Averaged 9.2 minutes and 1.8 points per game in 16 total con- tests this season, while shooting 41.2 percent on three pointers … Did not make the team's playoff roster. • D.J. Wilson, PF (2015-17), Milwau- kee Bucks: Bounced between the NBA and the G-League for the 44-38 Bucks … Competed in 22 games for Milwau- kee, but only tallied 3.2 minutes, 1.0 point and 0.5 rebounds per game … Only appeared in one of the Bucks' final 16 regular-season games, playing two minutes against Orlando April 9. — Austin Fox J.T. Compher • NHL He played a crucial role in the Colorado Avalanche's 4-1 playoff victory over Minnesota April 13, recording a goal, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating. Tim Hardaway Jr.• NBA He scored at least 17 points in 11 of the Knicks' 15 March contests. On top of that, the former Wolverine guard tallied at least 22 points in six of those 11 games, and shot 43.5 percent from the floor for the month. Clayton Richard• MLB The San Diego Padre tossed an opening-day gem March 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, throwing seven innings and only allowing six hits and one run. Richard also recorded four strikeouts and only walked one batter. HEADLINERS Former Michigan athletes in the news this month LeVert improved his per-game average in every single category in year two in the NBA, including more than doubling his assists from a clip of 1.9 to 4.2.
