There were tools for every part of the job of making a wooden wheel. A "hub cradle" was used for mortising the hub for spokes. The "traveler" mea- sured the tire after measuring the wheel which it must fit. Other tools include the "wing compass" and the "spoke dog", which pulled the spokes into place. Make sure to come and see some of these fascinating tools when the museum reopens for the season!
