SCORE Continues Momentum with New Course, Dates and SCORE Baja 500 Qualifier. The SCORE World Desert Championship season continued to deliver the great momentum that has taken place over the past few years. The 32nd SCORE San Felipe 250 race had record crowds and class-setting entry records that included the premier Trophy Truck class, with over 40 of the top teams competing this year. More race miles were added in response to the requests from teams for a longer race experience, and the race also acted as the all-important starting position qualifier for the Trophy Truck class for starting positions in the historic 50th BF Goodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500. As we prepare for yet another historic occasion for the 2018 SCORE World Desert Championship season, with the 50th BF Goodrich Tires SCOER Baja 500, we are featuring two incredible racers representing the different eras of the Baja 500 past and who both contributed to the legendary status for this world renown SCORE race. The first is motorsports legend Parnelli Jones. He’s a member of many motorsports Hall of Fame organizations, and overall winner of the 1970 and 1973 Baja 500s, and the 1971-72 Baja 1000s. He tells SCORE Journal about his great memories of racing in those early days and the impact it had on his great motorsports career. Representing the new era of SCORE Baja 500 winners, is Tavo Vildosola, who’s chase to win this elusive prize finally was achieved in the 2016 race. This great win also secured Tavo a rare “Triple Crown” record for his race wins in the San Felipe 250, SCORE Baja 1000 and the SCORE Baja 500.
