GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 28, ISSUE 5 48 comes to competition, which I kind of like, guys who aren't worried about anyone else's opinion except for those of the people on his team." That's part of what's interesting about Boudreaux, whose mother, Gail, is CEO of Anthem, Inc., in In- dianapolis and one of the most prominent women in American business, and whose father, Terry, is an executive for the technology-security company, TecSec, Inc. Evan Boudreaux's mud-wrestler type of playing style runs entirely counter to whatever stereotype might come from his family's success and affluence. "I grew up with parents who held me really ac- countable, and there really wasn't another option, to be honest with you," Boudreaux said. "It was, 'You're either going to play hard or not play.' That got ingrained in me pretty young and has become the way I've always played every time I've stepped on the court." Now, Purdue stands to be the beneficiary, having added almost a best-case-scenario sort of player and what should be an ideal cultural fit at its most important position of need. The A1-priority need of this off-season has been filled. But Purdue may not be done. It's looked into adding guards of all kinds, grad transfers or high school recruits, for starter candi- dates or simple depth, but hasn't shown particular urgency about it. It does have scholarship space, two more sitting open following Boudreaux's signing, but the num- bers must be handled carefully, be- cause Purdue's roster complexion is such that the scholarships it has available now and the scholarships it'll use for its 2019 recruiting class are the same thing. "You have to weigh that," Paint- er said. Purdue is known to have heavi- ly recruited 2019 big man Francis Okoro, a top-50 national prospect who'll officially visit West Lafayette in late April, the possibility being that he may reclassify this summer into the 2018 class. Should he do so, Purdue would be positioned to add him if he were to choose the Boilermakers over Oregon and Illinois, the other two schools working to get him as a summer enrollee, should be become one. Otherwise, Purdue may stand pat. "You're always looking," Painter said, "but I'm looking for the right piece more than anything. I've tried to dive into things not just being the answer to a physical question. I'd like to have the right guy in our program." Painter seems certain, and would seem to have ev- ery reason to be, that in Boudreaux, he already has one such player. j 1600 South Creasy Lane Lafayette, IN 47905 BUY A SUBARU AND KEEP INDIANA DRIVING LOVE IS OUT THERE, FIND IT IN A 2018 SUBARU CROSSTREK REDESIGNED 2018 SUBARU CROSSTREK www.BobRohrmanSubaru.com Bob Rohrman Subaru 1-866-906-6223
