24 THE SHOP JUNE 2018 P i c t u r e w a l k i n g i n t o a 40,000-square-foot facility with an array of classic cars and trucks that range from showroom stock muscle cars to 1,000-plus- hp pickups with turbochargers sticking out of the hood. Imagine the smell of leather being formed into seats and the sound of TIG welders bonding metal together. In the same building, paint and body experts put the finishing touches on a customer's dream build. This custom car fantasyland exists, and it's called Classic Car Studio. The restoration and custom shop does all of its own work in-house, focusing on cre- ating well-rounded vehicles that customers can go out and really drive. Based in St. Louis, it was started back in 2006 by owner Noah Alexander and his partner Nick Leidenfrost with the inten- tion of creating custom vehicles that were more than just showpieces. "Each new build is an exciting one, but my favorite build is always the next one," Leidenfrost jokes. "We never know what the next adventure will be when a car or truck rolls into the shop. Alexander adds: "We always tell our cus- tomers, drive it like you stole it. We want you to see its full potential." BUILDING A TEAM For the past 12 years, Alexander's main focus has been assembling a team of craftsmen and engineers to keep his entire operation under one roof. While many of his 20 team members are self-taught, most went to trade school or have more than 15 years of automotive experience. From electrical wiring to metal fabrication, custom upholstery and even paint and body, every job at CCS is performed by a specialist, allowing each build to reach its full potential. Not only does CCS restore and sell classic cars—the team also creates unique, award- winning projects that don't just look pretty on camera, but perform flawlessly as well. AS SEEN ON TV: CLASSIC CAR STUDIO Noah Alexander is happy to keep showing why Speed is the New Black.
