Ian Steere Battles Through Some Adversity Steere received a good lesson in dealing with adversity his senior year. Steere started the season at Fayetteville (N.C.) Northwood Temple Academy play- ing with some minor injuries and then had to miss some games with a knee injury. He re- turned, but Northwood Temple underwent a coaching change Dec. 21, with Clinton Rob- inson Jr. taking over on as interim coach. All the while, fellow NC State senior center signee Bates was out after undergo- ing shoulder surgery in the preseason. Plus, junior point guard John Michael Wright suffered an injury. Through it all, Steere kept pushing his limits. "One of the things I can say about Ian is that he's a phenomenal competitor," said Robinson, who is an area superintendent for the Wake County public school system. "His mindset and willingness to always play hard definitely created a presence for us in the middle."
