MAY 2018 ■ 77 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING Steere earned NCISAA 1A first-team all-state honors his senior year. The 6-8, 250-pounder should provide an immediate impact in one area for NC State next year. "He is a beast on the boards," Robinson said. "He became a better rebounder, and he didn't rely so much on his jump shot. He does have a nice soft touch." Steere will also likely dunk everything he can next year in Raleigh. "He is a very, very powerful dunker," Rob- inson said. "As he transitions to NC State, I think they will develop his game." One underrated aspect of Steere's game is his ability to pass out of the post. He could be the Wolfpack's best post passer since Richard Howell. "He has all the intangibles that you can't teach as far as his willingness to compete and to play hard," Robinson said. "He can make the extra pass. One of the things people will be surprised with is he has the ability to dribble baseline to baseline. "He can grab the board, push the ball and lead the break at his size." Bates came back from his shoulder sur- gery and played on Senior Night and the first game of the conference tournament, before shutting it down again. Steere and Bates will get to play to- gether at the Josh Level Classic May 19 at Greensboro (N.C.)
