4 THE WOLVERINE JUNE/JULY 2018 SOME SUGGESTIONS Dear The Wolverine, I've been a Wolverine since Anthony Carter wore No. 1. So my loyalty is unquestionable. We need a few more players to be great. First, we need a quarterback. Bran- don Peters did fine, but he's not ready. Shea Patterson may be just what Jim Harbaugh and company needs. Play- ing against SEC defenses shows he can read coverages as well as throw on them. Second, the offense could go more three wideouts. Everyone knows we want to run the ball. Spread defenses out by using our running backs in mo- tion to see if a corner, linebacker or safety covers him. If so, there may be a mismatch. If not, bring him back to the quarterback. Third, our defense is good. To be great again maybe we need a hybrid like Troy Polamalu when he was in Pittsburgh. What a blitzer we could have. Last, but not least, is how we've lost in the fourth quarter. That should not happen. Forget ball control. Put up points. Just like the loss to South Caro- lina. That loss hurt me more than any fan could possibly imagine. I was born and raised in South Carolina, yet my veins run Maize and Blue. Loyalty forever, Go Blue! Kelvin Cooper Columbia, S.C. Jim Harbaugh has made significant changes to his offensive staff this offseason, and whether the new attack resembles your suggestions remains to be seen. However, we do expect there to be differences from last year when the team takes its first snap at Notre Dame. There has been a similar overhaul with the strength and conditioning depart- ment — and all of the early returns are ex- tremely positive — which should help your final point. However, we don't see much of a need to tinker with the defense, which finished third nationally last year in total defense and already has a hybrid weapon in Khaleke Hudson at the viper position. In Hudson's first year of meaningful action on defense (he appeared in two games at safety as a freshman), all the sophomore did was tie for the team lead in sacks … and he's only going to keep getting better. A B1G PROBLEM Dear The Wolverine, Can you help me? I'm 71 years old, been a Michigan Wolverine all my life and still have six season tickets that my son uses at the stadium since I retired to Florida. I have bought as many sports chan- nels through cable network Comcast as possible. Today, as every day, I went to my Big Ten channels and to my sur- prise found nothing. So I called Comcast, and after six calls they told me Big Ten Network did not renew its contract. Any idea what happened? I need Big Ten Network — football's almost here. Please contact me. In April, news broke of Comcast dropping Big Ten Network from its cable television system in states where there are no teams in the conference. The best we can do is to reiterate what Big Ten Network tweeted after the move: "Comcast XFinity has decided unilaterally to drop BTN in many markets. All of their competitors still carry BTN everywhere. We at BTN share your disappointment. Let Comcast know how you feel." Hope this helps.
