WWW.POTATOGROWER.COM 13 Simplot Names Lofto President, CEO The J.R. Simplot Company has named Garrett Lofto as its president and CEO. Lofto has been the president of the company's agribusiness group since 2009 and has spent 26 years working for Simplot. He succeeds Bill Whitacre, who announced his retirement in April after nine years as president and CEO. As president of the company's agribusiness group, Lofto successfully initiated and oversaw several major capital expansions while building a high-performing, industry-leading management team, positioning the company for long- term success and prosperity. Whitacre retires after an 18-year career with the J. R. Simplot Company, the past nine as president and CEO. Lofto will assume his role as president and CEO on Sept. 1. The company has begun a thorough search to fill his role in agribusiness. Tiger-Sul Reopens Alabama Plant Tiger-Sul, celebrated the return of the company's plant in Atmore, Ala., on May 14 with a grand reopening ceremony. The event honored the invaluable contributions and tireless diligence of the Tiger-Sul team and the people of Atmore in returning the facility to full production less than nine months after a lightning strike and subsequent fire knocked it completely offline in July 2017. The plant officially returned to full production the latter part of April. In fact, with the combination of state-of-the-art design and the installation of four new high- capacity belts, the company can increase the production of sulfur bentonite and micronutrients by nearly 150 percent compared to pre-fire capacity.
