A&E THE GUIDE 2018 • 91 Sandcarving use the 4 mil, while the 2-mil material is almost exclusively used for photograph-like images (halftones). This is the material of choice if photo images are your game. So, which color is it going to be? Purple, blue, or green? You have to decide which properties are most important to you when using photoresist. The purple resist works well in dry climates like ours in New Mexico, but is a bit too sticky in humid areas. The blue resists generally work better in high humidity and peel easier, should you want to blast a second stage. And the green, well, that's in a league of its own as described above. All photoresists are self- adhesive (which was not always the case) and come in a couple of thicknesses, making it possible to achieve a good amount of depth, even on stone. © Ruth L Dobbins 2018 Negative artwork and exposed RapidMask film, the dry- process film that is green.
