He sometimes wishes he had help. He's written a detailed operating procedure for night staff about operating the ice resurfacers. The morning he talked to RINK, he was in at 1 a.m. to prepare for summer hockey camp. Carboni wants people to go to Canton Ice House because the ice is better than everywhere else. It can't just be hard ice or fast ice; the edges must be flawless. He runs an edger on the ice five times per week, Monday through Friday. "I'm just known for being really picky and conscientious and getting perfect ice," Carboni says. Carboni fell into ice maintenance after 15 years in landscaping and construction. To him, ice is like a perfectly level grading plan that he must complete every day. He joined Canton Ice House a few months after its opening. Unlike other arenas he worked at, both sheets remained open year-round. This past summer was busier than ever. He saw more groups book ice time per day than in September and October. Local Attractions In a short two years, the arena has established its place in the Canton community. An upstairs viewing space looks out on both rinks, which host various levels of hockey and figure skating programs. A café there has a counter run by a person who operated an Italian restaurant for years in town. He makes food to order, including pizza, burgers, chicken tenders and drinks. The arena's golf simulator room has been operating full scale since last year. Golf enthusiasts can virtually play on courses around the world. As of recently, spectators can also enjoy a bar during tournaments. The arena has finally gotten the opportunity to get a one-day alcohol permits for tournaments.
