Keeping Cool Carboni's kid fostered his love for hockey. His son skated for years as a Mite through college. Although Carboni was never much of a hockey guy—he played football in college—that kept Carboni at the rink all the time. He grew to understand the game well and love the people he met there. He also loves the cold. When Carboni and his wife go on vacation, they don't go to Bermuda or the Caribbean. They go to Ottawa and skate on frozen canals. He feels most at peace operating one of the arena's ice resurfacers. "I like to focus intensely on something. I believe in commitment in making sure you try to be the best at all times and excellence in making sure the ice is the best it could be," Carboni says. "I just want people to have the best experience they can have in the arena."
