4. Watch what you post: If you want to keep this career, or any career, it's imperative to watch what you post. Inappropriate pictures (i.e. underage drinking, nudity, vulgar language etc.) should never show up on an employee's page. Again, not only is it a poor reflection on the employee's character, but it's a poor reflection on you as the employer. There is zero tolerance for this behavior in the workplace, and that same tolerance should seep into the world wide web as well. 5. No cyberbullying: Just like gossip and bullying at the rink are prohibited, doing so online can be even worse. Employees should treat each other with respect to their face and online. This also extends to employees mocking any patrons. That is unacceptable, and to bring it to a social media platform is also disgraceful. 6. Don't be afraid to promote the company and each other: Bosses, this one goes for you, too. Spotlight the employees that help make your facility run. Share updates on ones who are off to college, or employees that have done something extra. Employees, help get more fans in the seats and skates on the ice by helping push out ice hours and programs or promotions to family and friends. Work together to build a successful facility and online presence. 7. Offer social media training: Not everyone is as well-versed in the social media world's ins and outs. For employees that might want to get active on social media but aren't sure how, offer training, either by fellow employees who understand it best, or look to hire outside educators to come in for a few hours of training. J 1. LINKEDIN: It's the best professional networking platform available, and incredibly user friendly. 2. POST TO GROUPS ON FACEBOOK/TWEET: Create the message on Facebook and Twitter and spread the word. Encourage employees to share and retweet so as many eyeballs can get on it as possible. 3. RINK CLASSIFIEDS: It really is the top way to get your needs out for the rink industry. Submit your classified to: usicerinks.com/ resources/classifieds to Use Social Media/Internet to Find Employees EMPLOYEES SHOULD NEVER BE PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO THEIR PHONE THAN TO CUSTOMERS! 3 WAYS USICERINKS.COM SEPTEMBER.OCTOBER.2018 / 31 ENCOURAGE ALL EMPLOYEES (THAT ARE COMFORTABLE DOING SO) TO BE A PART IN UPDATING YOUR FACILITY'S APPROPRIATE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS.
