NOVEMBER 2018 ■ 47 BASKETBALL PREVIEW 2017-8 Analysis: Going into last season, there was an expectation that Beverly may have to redshirt due to a strict interpretation of transfer rules. Beverly enrolled at NC State after taking a summer school class at Ohio State prior to the Buckeyes making a coaching change. Eventually the NCAA ruled Beverly eligible, and he became a revelation with his reliable decision-making and clutch shooting. Those two traits will allow Beverly to continue to see extensive playing time in a crowded backcourt. Career Highlights: Had a 3.27 assist-to-turnover ratio last season, third best in a single season at NC State and best ever for a freshman in the ACC … Scored in double figures 15 times, including a career-high 20 points in a win over then-No. 2 Arizona … Made 43.0 percent of his threes in ACC play, fourth best in the league in conference-only games … Had a double-double of 15 points and 11 assists against Jacksonville … Rated by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect … Played for former NC State assistant coach A.W. I got ranked here and there, but it wasn't important to me. What is the toughest road venue you have played in? UNC is tough. Syracuse is tough because it's different. It's a football stadium. When you were playing traveling team basketball in high school, what was your favorite city to visit? L.A. or Sacramento. If you could try a different college sport what would it be?
