"The Boondocks." Did you play close attention to your rankings in high school? Never, but I would look at the rankings. When you were playing traveling team basketball in high school, what was your favorite city to visit? Los Angeles. If you could try a different college sport what would it be? Football. What's a long-term promise you have made to your family? I want them to make sure they are straight and set for life. Would you wear your NC State jersey in a social setting? Not really. What is your go-to restaurant for a date? Hibachi spot in the city or Sub City [in Cleveland]. PHOTO BY KEN MARTIN Analysis: Funderburk is expected to play a large role in the paint this season. He is one of three healthy, eligible big men that can man minutes. Of the three, Funderburk may be the most skilled offensively. He made 19 three-pointers and was a good free throw shooter last year (74.3 percent, 101 of 136) for Northwest Florida State College in Tallahassee, Fla. Career Highlights: Originally signed and enrolled at Ohio State, where he redshirted in 2016-17 before leaving the team the following offseason and matriculating to Northwest Florida State … Had a season-high of 22 points in a win over Tallahassee Community College and helped his team go 31-3 … Previously played for former NC State assistant coach A.W. Hamilton at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., where he averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game while playing alongside Pack sophomore guard Braxton Beverly and helping the team win the Prep School National Cham - pionship … Also played at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio … Was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 77 prospect nationally in the 2016 class by Rivals.com … Regarded as a three-star signing out of junior college by the same service.
