But at U.S. Figure Skating, we still have one month of celebration left: National Skating Month in January. This month marks the time of year when we revel in what we love most— skating. Rinks nationwide will be opening their doors to the young and old, offering free lessons and fun events to promote the wonderful world of ice skating. Various events will be offered by U.S. Figure Skating Clubs and Learn to Skate USA programs alike to promote how fun skating is for all ages. If you haven't planned an event yet, it's not too late. Possible events to include at your facility might be: • Open Houses/Bring a Buddy to Class • Skate-a-Thons • Exhibitions But what does that entail? We highlight the ideas to follow. Open Houses: Open Houses can involve free lessons, an informational table or Bring a Buddy to Class. All of these events should be foolproof and well-planned while offering valuable information when it comes to who, what, when, where and why. It is important to have a staff on hand that are well- informed, friendly and can talk easily and answer questions in regards to not only your own rink's programming, but also the overall sport of ice skating. All of these events offer a great opportunity to REAL PROGRAMS National Skating Month Let's Celebrate Skating!
