Gold and Black's Women's Hoops Lineup The Starters The Reserves KK Houser 22 G • 5-6 • Jr. Houser turned in her second consecutive solid offensive outing against the Hoosiers, scoring 12 by hitting a couple three-pointers among her five field goals. But more impressive is her rebounding; she pulled down seven against IU, a game after having 10 in the overtime win at Michigan State. Courtney Moses 15 G • 5-7 • Jr. For only the third time in her career — and second time this season — Moses was held scoreless in a game. She went 0-of-7 from the field vs. the Hoosiers, although two made three-pointers were waved off when a screener was called for an offensive foul. Moses had a couple open looks, too, but was just off the mark. But she helped in slowing down IU shooter Aulani Sinclair. Dee Dee Williams 20 G • 6-0 • Jr. Williams was hot early offensively vs. IU, scoring seven points in the first four-plus minutes to jump the Boilers to a 10-point lead. She cooled, but her early jumpers forced the Hoosiers to be aware of where she was on the floor; they had been sagging off her to help elsewhere. She also had three rebounds and three assists, without a turnover, in the win. Sam Ostarello 32 F • 6-2 • Sr. Ostarello's 14-point, 10-rebound effort vs. Indiana marked her eighth double-double of the season and 13th of her career. Her average of 10.2 rebounds per game is second in the Big Ten and her career rebound total of 775 is good for sixth all-time at Purdue. But she's turned into more than a rebounder in her senior season, with a season average of 10.1 points per game. Hayden Hamby 10 G • 5-7 • Fr. Hamby played a couple of first-half minutes against the Hoosiers, but none in the second. She's fundamentally sound, and does little to hurt the Boilermakers' effort. But sub-standard physical strength — and perhaps a slow delivery — is keeping her from contributing much offensively. Offseason work should help immensely. Joslyn Massey 21 F • 6-0 • Fr. Massey is unlikely to get a ton of playing time down the stretch, unless at the tail end of blowouts. She's played only a minute during Big Ten play. She's physical and athletic, but raw offensively, and Purdue has depth at the wing. Liza Clemons 23 F • 6-2 • So. Purdue needs a fourth post to step into the rotation and Clemons is the most experienced option, but she's struggled to find a niche this season. She was in only a minute against the Hoosiers. Clemons hasn't scored since Notre Dame in late December and hasn't had a rebound since Illinois on the second day of January. Camille Redmon 42 C • 6-4 • So. Redmon will get minutes against tall opponents, and she did against Indiana. The center played two minutes vs. the Hoosiers, and made her impact felt; she had a rebound, two fouls, an assist, a turnover on a moving screen and a steal. She also missed her only field goal attempt. Chantel Poston 43 SF • 5-10 • Sr. (5) Poston didn't play against the Hoosiers as Purdue tried to save her energy as much as possible for Penn State Monday night. Poston's knee, which required surgery a couple months ago, isn't right, so rest helps. Purdue's hoping she'll be fresh to be able to track down the Nittany Lion guards. Taylor Manuel 50 PF • 6-2 • Fr. Manuel has scored in doublefigures in three consecutive games, including having 11 vs. the Hoosiers on 4-of-9 from the field. She also pulled down three rebounds and had a steal. On the season, Manuel's now averaging a solid 8.2 points and three boards per game in only 15.8 minutes off the bench. Drey Mingo 24 F • 6-2 • Sr. (6) Mingo struggled mightily to score inside vs. the taller Hoosiers, routinely creating contact but shooting into the arms of the defenders. Her only points against IU came from the threepoint line, where she hit one of her three attempts. Mingo was in the gym late after the win, trying to sort out her offensive struggles. April Wilson 25 G • 5-7 • Fr. Wilson has come up big in consecutive games, scoring 12 at Michigan State then six vs. Indiana. She was a spark against IU, helping bring some energy off the bench after a lackadaisical first half. She's been great defensively, with 10 steals the last four games. The Shelf Bays and Thornton are redshirting as both recover from offseason knee surgeries. Whitney Bays 52 F • 6-2 • Jr. Torrie Thornton 4 F • 6-0 • So.
