Ross Suspended Again
Wide receiver O.J. Ross has
been suspended indefinitely for
"violation of team rules," the athletic department announced Friday.
It's the latest issue for the senior-to-be, slated to be the Boilermakers' top returning receiver.
Ross was suspended for the
2011 Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl
for reasons later learned to be
related to academics. He was reinstated that spring, after Hope
said that his scholarship had
been temporarily pulled.
As a junior last season, Ross
caught 56 passes for 454 yards and
two touchdowns, missing two-anda-half games due to a toe injury.
"So Some of my teammates
want me off the team," Ross
tweeted. "...how should I feel
about this?"

Former Boilermaker
Akeem Shavers did not participate in the Texas vs. The Nation
Bowl game over the weekend,
instead choosing to rest his knee.
The running back hurt his
knee, although not severely
enough to require surgery, in Purdue's bowl loss to Oklahoma State
on New Year's Day.
R Former Purdue football
player Dwayne Beckford was sentenced Thursday to almost five
years of suspended jail time for
possessing a synthetic drug and
probation violations, according
to a report in the Journal and Cou-
rier. The punishment comes from
cases in separate courts.
Beckford was Purdue's starting middle linebacker until being
dismissed from the team in August following a series of run-ins
with the law. j
