MARCH 2019 ■ 77 ■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING ing guard Tyler Maye, who played at VCU before heading to junior college. "He is a guy that can score the basketball in a lot of different ways," Williford said. "Defensively, he's long and can play the passing lanes. "He has a high basketball IQ, which is something a lot of guys that age are lacking." Williford figures Smith fits into NC State's pressing, up-tempo style. Farm- ville Central attended NCSU's team camp last June. Like Smith mentioned, Williford knows he'll need to get stronger. "They've done a good job of keeping in touch with us and evaluating him through the process," Williford said. "I think Smith has done his homework. "I think the NC State coaches have done a great job of finding talent within the state of North Carolina. Terquavion is one of the top guys." Smith has played some point guard in the past and has good court vision. Wil- liford said his assist-to-turnover ratio is much better than last year. Playing with Wright helps take some of the pressure off, and the Jaguars had a four-game stretch when they accumulated 90 assists. "Fortunately, we have a team with a lot of weapons," Williford said. "Smith does a great job of finding guys." ■ Follow TheWolfpacker.com for men's basketball recruiting coverage. Brewster Acad- emy was invited to play in the third annual Iverson Classic April 26 in Philadelphia. The star-studded all-star game features 10 McDon- ald's All-Americans, and Lecque will get the chance to play against fellow elite point guards Cole Anthony of Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy (No. 4 in the class of 2019) and Nico Mannion of Phoenix Pinnacle (No. 14 nationally, committed to Arizona). "I love the competition even if I'm not scoring, which is one of my best attributes," Lecque said. "I'm playing defense and always doing things." Lecque wasn't eligible for the McDonald's All- American Game due to playing five years of high school basketball, but he could be a possibility for the Jordan Brand Classic in New York City. The 6-4, 180-pound Lecque has helped Brewster to a 29-6 record as of Feb. 25, including three wins and the title at the John Wall Holiday Invitational at Raleigh Broughton High in December. The Teaneck, N.J., native fell seven slots in the updated Rivals250 to No. 36 overall in the country in the class of 2019 Jan. 28. He had been as high as No. 9 nationally on July 2, 2018. — Jacey Zembal
