RAPTOR-IZING THE RANGER AirDesign’s 2019 Ford Ranger By Dan Sanchez Photos Courtesty AirDesign USA While the 2019 Ranger Raptor is still not available in the United States, AirDesign decided to create a similar body style with their own off-road series kit that transforms the truck into an aggressive off-road beast. The company designs and creates its own body panels that easily attach to the factory vehicle. In their 2019 Ranger Ford Image Vehicle project, they added a hood scoop, a new front bumper guard, fender vents and flares, door rocker panels and a spoiler and applique to the factory tailgate. While that doesn’t sound like much, it definitely transformed the truck into a sportier version that looks like it came from the factory. In fact, the factory, Ford Motor Company, liked it so much that they gave AirDesign it’s 2018 Design Award for the effort. Along with its own upgrades, AirDesign also added a BDS suspension system that includes Fox coil over shocks. A set of 20-inch Fuel Vector wheels were mounted to a set of 20x12.50-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires that give the AirDesign Ranger an aggressive rolling stance. Inside the cab, a new Roadwire leather interior in matching black and white was added for a luxurious touch and feel while driving the truck off-road. Performance comes from a Borla exhaust system that was added to the factory 2.3L Ecoboost engine. According to Billy Longfellow, VP AirDesign USA, the company worked with Sherman Williams to create a pure white that was added to the vehicle. The remaining components were painted gloss black to give it a unique appearance, that begs to get it out on the road and covered in mud.
