It���s the second month of the year
and we���ve seen the very first travel
trade event happening last month at
the Marina Bay Sands, in Singapore
where travel distribution was a
major topic. It was also here at the
Travel Distribution World, Asia,
where Duncan Bureau, senior vicepresident of Sales & Distribution,
Malaysia Airlines announced the
official entrance of the carrier, to
the oneworld alliance team.
There have been a lot of
mergers and alliances that occurred
internationally. Aside from the
onworld alliance, recent news also
brough us to light on the merger
approval between American Airlines
and US Airways. This month, we
also take a look at the current
hot topic concerning the GDS. Is
China really opening up or is the

Hanoi bomb shelter revisited
HANOI ��� Tom Hayden, one
of the founders and leaders of
the 1960s student movement,
an anti-war and civil rights
activist during the Vietnam War,
returned to Hanoi in December
last year to burrow through his
history in the city as well as a
warren of subterranean rooms
he���d last visited when bombs
rained on this war-torn city.
During visits in 1965, 1967, 1972
and 1973, when he was married to
the actress Jane Fonda, US bombing
runs drove Hayden and other hotel
guests into an air raid shelter that
the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
unearthed last year and established
as a memorial. Today���s memorial
