2016 OPENED RINK BREAKDOWN SAND RINK FLOOR LIGHTING IN ARENA LED sessions offered are pretty limited dur- ing hockey season—about three hours a week—but locals can take their pick from about 250 pairs of rental skates. Since opening the rink in 2016, Glowacki has learned he always needs to think one step ahead. He's constantly reaching out to parents about his plans for youth programs. Winter is busy, and he's become accustomed to thinking about spring and summer programs to drive people to the arena. Glowacki stresses that this arena's success wouldn't be possible without a substantial amount of teamwork. His brother was on St. Joseph's first high school team, and his dad was the youth hockey association president. Others laid the groundwork, so there were enough youth players and Glowacki wouldn't have to start from scratch. He now works together with his wife, in-laws and other family members, too, alongside countless volunteers. "We've been successful, and we're trying to send a message of just—we want kids to leave the ice tired and with a smile on their face," Glowacki says. "You know, that's our goal. And we're able to reach that goal just because we have had a lot of help from a lot of great people."
