The organization is unique because it is both an NGO and an accredited educational institution. The U.S. government funds the devel- opment programs through grants and contracts, while the exchange and educational programs are driven primarily through enrollment. In 2017, World Learning brought in $137 million in revenue. With subsidiaries around the world, a significant portion of that is spent in foreign currencies. The finance team needs to track revenue and expenses in local currencies for tax reporting, but then consolidate the books in U.S. dollars. Before selecting Sage Intacct, growing revenues and program commitments prompted executives, including CFAO Kote Lomidze, to seek a new, cloud financial management solution to replace its aging Datatel system. Solutions Banishing Paper in Favor of Faster, Digital Processes The evaluation commi ee considered three solutions, including Oracle NetSuite and Microso Dynamics, before choosing Sage Intacct primarily for its cloud infrastructure, multi-dimensional database, platform services, and its ability to track multiple currencies and entities while offering consolidated reporting. "The multi-dimensional structure gives us the ability to report on anything," said Lomidze. "Out of the box, Sage Intacct met most of our requirements, and we added custom applications through platform services to bridge specific needs." Results Flexible, Future-Proof Financial and Operational Management In the five years since World Learning implemented Sage Intacct, the platform has increased organization-wide visibility into financial and operational management.
