Mercy Squad at Steubenville of the Rockies JUNE FULL CALENDAR DenverCatholic.org THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD MAY 30: The Ascension of the Lord commemorates Jesus Christ's ascension into Heaven and marks the end of the Easter season on the litugical calendar. It is a very important feast in the Church and can be traced back to as early as the 4th century. The Feast of the Ascension falls one week before Pentecost, which is no coincidence. As Bishop Robert Barron puts it, "It is fascinating to note how the Ascension and Pentecost are linked: In the Ascension, something of earth moves into the heavenly sphere, and at Pentecost, something of heaven — the Holy Spirit — invades the earth."
