"I thought Drey
Mingo was
amazing, absolutely amazing
and I'm really
happy that she
got her extra
year and what a
story and what a
class act she is.
And very, very
proud of what
she's been able
to accomplish
with all of her
adversity."

You are looking at the woman
who basically owns the Big Ten
Tournament. Since coming to
Purdue in 2006, Sharon Versyp
has posted a 15-3 record in the
Big Ten Tournament, winning
the postsseason event for the
fourth time in her seven years at
the helm.

Note: Iowa in
2001 is the
only team to
win the Big
Ten Tournament without
a first-round
bye.
March 13, 1997 • Brad Miller scores 31 points as the Boilermakers fight off Rhode Island in the opening
round of the NCAA Tournament in Memphis. It marked the most recent time a Purdue player surpassed the
30-point barrier in an NCAA game, and it also registered the fourth-straight time the Boilermakers won an
opening-round game in the Big Dance. The Boilermakers streak of consecutive opening round NCAA wins
is now at 14.
March 16, 2001 • Playing on their home court in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the ninthranked Boilermakers struggle out of the gate, trailing UC-Santa Barbara by as much as seven in
the first half, only to rally for a 75-62 win. Senior center Camille Cooper led the Boilermakers in
scoring in the first of five straight wins in the NCAA Tournament.
March 15, 2009 • No. 24 Purdue withstands several Ohio State rallies to win its first men's
Big Ten Tournament title in Indianapolis' Conseco Fieldhouse. After disposing of Penn State
and Illinois by double-digit margins, the third-seeded Boilermakers struggled to subdue Ohio
State. The victory marked the last time a non-No. 1 seed won the annual tournament.
