ZF North America is a global top-ten supplier of automotive parts and
systems. With North American headquarters in Northville, Michigan, the
company was first to market with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
While ZF is recognized as a technological leader in its industry, its technology
expertise hadn't yet extended to the talent management processes. In North
America, the company has more than 8,000 employees working in 20 sites, with
each location operating independently in terms of HR support and services.
"Everything was done on paper and there was a lot of confusion about what
the processes even were. Sharing information was very difficult across the
organization," said Mills.
The paper-based system also hampered recruiting.
"Our organization is growing tremendously. In this location alone, we're hiring
100 people a month, sometimes every two weeks," Mills continued. "We
were managing all of that via paper. There was no collaboration across ZF
locations, and hiring managers didn't have visibility into the HR process."
