DR IVING ADOPTION OF PER FOR MANCE- BASED DESIGN
Firms often struggle to adopt new technologies and practices, but those that do so
successfully hold a significant advantage over their competitors.
When architectural CAD programs became accessible in the early 1980s, it took well
over a decade for firms to make the change from paper to screen. BIM adoption has
followed a similar, if slightly accelerated, trend. (Fig. 1) And while today's firms may
very well be more tech savvy than they were 30 years ago, they are still working hard
to adopt powerful new BIM-supported practices like Integrated Project Delivery.

Clearly, organizational change is not a new challenge for architecture firms. No matter
the era, or how compelling the possible future (reduced production time, better coor-
dination, lower cost, etc.) it will always take significant and focused effort to realize the
rewards of innovation. Specifically, change leaders must establish clear and measur-
able goals and objectives, and must track progress across individual projects and the
firm as a whole. The following outlines a four phase approach to do just that, thereby
driving adoption of Sefaira and its powerful performance-based design approach
across your firm.
Pen to CAD; CAD to BIM:
Change has always been difficult.
