DR IVING ADOPTION OF PER FOR MANCE- BASED DESIGN Engage the Firm As the firm's leader, you already know that performance-based design is critical for your firm's success: it supports higher project win rates, reduces re-work, increases decision-making efficiency, and leads to a compelling and marketable body of work. But do you also know, that to reap these benefits, you must empower every designer to adopt performance-based design? Doing so requires consistent and focused effort, and begins with inspiring your team. Engaging Designers Designers unfamiliar with performance-based design (PBD) may wonder how this new approach affects them: i.e. why should they bother with it, and what does it look like in practice? First, PBD creates an opportunity to do truly compelling and exceptional work. Great design addresses all elements of building creation and use: pure form is moot if the program cannot be supported; and aesthetics are worth little if the building cannot last beyond a few harsh winters. Building performance is an essential design component, and great designers know it. Second, clients will be more engaged and enthusiastic if they know that their building will be optimized beyond aesthetics and programmatic function. This will lead not only to better design work, but also to a more rewarding work experience for the designer. Third, PBD delivered by Sefaira aligns well with the designer's current work flow and process. Performance can now be incorporated into all design decisions (e.g. siting, massing, glazing, materials selection, etc.) rather than being relegated to a retroactive consideration requiring a unique and disparate process: 1 4 3 2 INSPIRE STATUS QUO: TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE.
