98 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ PACK PROS The writer then reiterated: "Again, this is a questionable decision by the voters here." There was no question Chubb, as a rookie, proved he was one of the NFL's best pass rushers, not just playing along- side one of them in All-Pro Von Miller. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft led all rookies with 12 sacks and first-year edge defenders with 58 total pressures (QB sacks, hits and hurries). He was one of seven rookies to make the countdown. "He's a great talent," Miller said. "I was there on the field with him for every single sack that he got. He's a big-time rusher on the other side and definitely takes some of the pressure off me." "He's out there balling," Chargers Pro Bowl linebacker Melvin Ingram concurred. "It's special to see him come in as a young player and have that type of impact." T.J. Warren Traded To Pacers No Wolfpack players were selected in the NBA Draft this past June, but the an- nual event did not come and go without the involvement of a former NC State standout. The Phoenix Suns traded T.J. Warren to the Indiana Pacers June 20. The former Pack forward finished sec- ond on the 19-63 Suns with an 18.0-point average this season in 43 appearances be- fore missing the final 33 games with an ankle injury. He also shot a career-best 42.8 percent from three-point range. Going into his sixth professional season, Warren will help the Pacers, who went 48-34 to finish fifth in the Eastern Con- ference last season, build a new nucleus around All-Star Victor Oladipo. "They need more offensive firepower, a player who can get his points and open the floor for everybody else," The Athletic's Scott Agness wrote when analyzing the trade before dubbing Warren the team's starting small forward. Warren will also be playing for fellow former Wolfpacker Nate McMillan in Indy; McMillan and Warren already knew each other thanks to Warren's father, who played at NC State a few years before McMillan and has known him since high school. "T.J. is a hybrid player in his prime, and he still has plenty of room to grow, which makes him the perfect addition to our team," Pacers president of basketball oper- ations Kevin Pritchard said after the move was announced. "He's a unique scorer, in that he can post up, he can make plays off the bounce and he's really improved his shooting. "He's a really polished scorer, and we are happy to have him."
