Comparisons can become more granular as the designs evolve. Here, we look at a "best case" comparison between three design options. The second comparison revealed that each of the designs could be made to achieve similar levels of overall energy performance, but with different distributions of heating and cooling. The Corner no longer had a definitive advantage in terms of overall energy use—but its peak cooling load was significantly smaller than the other options, indicat- ing that it may require a smaller, less expensive mechanical system. We will continue to use comparisons as the design moves forward to study design options and track our progress.
