School Commits RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame has 17 commitments in its 2020 recruiting class, and it appears the Fighting Irish will end up taking 19 total prospects. There are two main play- ers to know at this time, and both are defensive backs — Collin Gamble from Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian School and Ramon Henderson from Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty. Notre Dame offered Gamble — a three-star recruit, the No. 79 player in the Lone Star State and the No. 51 cornerback in the country according to Rivals — July 16 and quickly shot up his top schools list. The 5-10, 185-pounder, who projects as a nickel for the Irish, set an official visit to see Notre Dame Sept. 28. He will also take an official visit to Cal Aug. 31 and plans to take all five of his official visits before making a commitment. Henderson, a three-star prospect and the No. 49 player in California per Rivals, will also be officially visiting Notre Dame when the Irish host Virginia Sept. 28. In mid-August, Henderson seemed to be an Irish lean, although Oklahoma and UCLA are also involved. Gamble and Henderson are the main targets on the board, but there are a few other possibilities, such as Dontae Manning (three-star talent, No. 8 player in Mis- souri and No. 36 cornerback nationally per Rivals) from Raytown (Mo.) High. How- ever, it seems that those are the two most likely additions to Notre Dame's class. • Oklahoma is looking to poach Notre Dame cornerback commit Caleb Of- ford of Southaven (Miss.) High. The 6-1, 175-pounder pledged to the Irish on Independence Day, but the Sooners offered him July 25, giving Offord something to consider. Offord — a three-star prospect, the No. 15 player in Mississippi and the No. 52 cornerback in the nation according to Rivals — was mulling over the possibility of taking a visit to OU, but in mid-August he seemed to be leaning towards sticking with his Notre Dame commitment. There shouldn't be any concern with the Irish losing Offord's pledge unless he does take a visit to Oklahoma. • Rivals updated its rankings for the 2020 class. Notre Dame all-purpose back commit Chris Tyree from Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale saw the biggest movement in the rankings, jumping from the No. 64 overall recruit in the land to No. 40. His rise at Rivals resulted in the 247Sports Composite Ranking listing him as a five-star prospect. All-purpose back Chris Tyree of Chester (Va.) Thomas saw the biggest rise in the rankings among Notre Dame commits when the Rivals250 was updated in mid-August, going from the No. 64 overall prospect in the country to No. 40.
