Ms. Andrea Ryan Office of Planned Giving Toll free: 800-688-1827 | Visible Ink offers MSK patients the opportunity to express themselves in writing with the individual support of an experienced writing mentor. The largest writing program of its kind, Visible Ink serves patients at every stage of their cancer journey. The program's mission is to promote creativity, stress reduction, and personal empowerment for people diagnosed with cancer. Participants meet with mentors in person, over the phone, by email, or by video chat. Volunteer mentors include bestselling novelists, Tony and Emmy Award winners, poets, journalists, teachers, and editors for major print and online publications. Visible Ink is open to all MSK patients free of charge, and funding is provided solely through PAGE 4 Visible Ink Uncovers Healing grants and donations. Since its inception in 2008, more than 1,700 patients have enrolled in the program, producing more than 65,000 pages of written work, including essays, memoirs, fiction, podcasts, poetry, plays, personal journals, letters, lyrics, and blogs. Participants are also invited to submit written works to be considered for publication in our anthology and/or inclusion in our annual staged performance. The experiences are designed to honor and celebrate our patients. Therapy programs like Visible Ink help patients cope with the emotions surrounding cancer.
