Not only was the family learning to cope with the military lifestyle, their 4-year-old son, Auryn, was born with an omphalocele, a birth defect in which an infant's intestine or other abdominal organs are outside of the body because of a hole in the belly button area. Because of that, they have to be careful when participating in certain activities. They were thrilled to find out Auryn could participate in ice skating lessons alongside his siblings.
