3 W E LC O M E F R O M T H E U S E A Welcome to the USEA Annual Meeting & Convention and 60th Anniversary Celebration! Massachusetts is the birthplace of the USCTA (USEA) and we are excited to return! Our previous convention here in Boston was the largest attended in the history of the Association. This year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the USEA in grand style, with sincere thanks to the folks in Area I for their hospitality! The 2019 convention pays tribute to all horses, past and present, especially our partners who have continued to make this amazing sport possible. Horses blazed the trail in the founding of this nation from Boston to Seattle – from sea to shining sea. They've impacted our lives and our history, richly deriving of our gratitude and our respect. From the legendary horses in the USEA's Eventing Hall of Fame to the unheralded schoolmaster pony that has taken multiple children up the levels, we are honored to have them in our lives. When you return home please give your horses an extra treat on behalf of the USEA! As with last year, we have worked to create a streamlined schedule with two main tracks: "A" and "B." We hope that you are able to learn, network, and visit with old and new friends as much as possible. The parties will be as epic as ever culminating with the USEA Awards Dinner and 60th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday night! We have so many outstanding speakers this year that it is impossible to focus on just one. On that note, we hope you are able to join us for a convention first keynote address. This year will feature a panel discussion moderated by Jim Wolf, with incoming USEA President Max Corcoran, rising star Savannah "Woodge" Fulton, and the legendary Jim Wofford as panelists. The group will be speaking about the past, present, and future of eventing in America and it will undoubtedly be though provoking. Among our many speakers are several talks that have been made possible thanks to our amazing sponsors. Please take a minute to thank them for all that they do for our sport! We welcome Allyn Mann will be presenting a talk entitled "Adequan I.M.: Understanding the Facts," Jaclyn Gagnon will be presenting the talk "Feeding Strategies and Nutrition for the Sport Horse" thanks to our friends from Nutrena, and Hannah Diebold of Bates Saddles will be speaking on "Rider Biomechanics." If you have some extra time, we encourage you to visit our "Movie Theater" in the Liberty C room on the second floor. Classic competition film footage and horse movies will provide us with a flashback throughout the convention. On Thursday everyone is welcomed to join us for the Board of Governors Welcome Reception in the Grand Ballroom. The Annual Meeting of Members will occur on Saturday at lunchtime and finish with the keynote panel. This will be the official transition of the USEA Presidency as we usher in our new President Max Corcoran. We will wrap up all of the parties on Saturday night as we honor our year-end champions. Jim Wofford will once again serve as the master of ceremonies for this wonderful celebration. Finally, please extend your thanks to all of our convention sponsors: Adequan, Bates Saddles, Nutrena, Charles Owen, SmartPak, Rebecca Farm, Mountain Horse, Standlee Forage, Auburn Laboratories, Stackhouse & Ellis Saddles, Nunn Finer, World Equestrian Brands, Gallops Saddlery, RevitaVet, Parker Equine Insurance, Tryon International Equestrian Center, Hylofit, and more! Visit them and our fabulous vendors at our trade fair area throughout the convention. As always, thank you for your membership and for your commitment to the sport we love!
