It was another top tier celebration for girls and women in the State of Hockey Dec. 20-22 at the fourth annual Girls Hockey Weekend. Minnesota Hockey teamed up with the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Whitecaps to host a number of clinics and dry- land training for 8U, 10U and 12U Minnesota girls hockey teams. The Wild's Dec. 21 game against the Winnibeg Jets also centered around celebrating the women's and girls' game. The weekend was capped off with two-time United States Olympian and Roseville native, Lee Stecklein practicing alongside members of the Wild. "I think it's fabulous (to host Girls Hockey Weekend)," Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said, who compared Stecklein, a defensem- an, to fellow Wild d-man Jonas Brodin. "I think the more girls that play, the better it is. We want our sport to grow and it's just not guys that play, we want everyone to play. And we think we got the best sport going, and as you can see with her, she can play. Other than the fact we knew she was female, she's tall and she fit right in. I hope they continue to grow and grow the game everywhere." Goals & Assists Photos / Minnesota Wild M H J ON L I N E .
