Losing teeth on the ice is not. If you play a sport, like hockey, where equipment could hit your face, a player could run into you, or you could fall down, you should wear a mouthguard. Because mouthguards cover the upper teeth and provide cushion against blows to the lower face, they reduce the risk of broken teeth, damaged gum tissue, jaw injuries and concussions. Proper fitting mouthguards are even more important for athletes who wear braces. It is crucial that mouthguards are com- fortable and fit properly or they won't be worn, leaving teeth unprotected. If you would like a custom mouthguard made for you or a family member, please schedule an appointment at your local Park Dental practice. Park Dental would love to help protect your smile and answer any questions you have about dentistry in sports. To request an appointment, visit parkdental.com. YOUTH COACHES RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE Minnesota Hockey, in partnership with Park Dental and the Minnesota Wild, hosted nearly 50 coaches for the Coaching Excellence Award program in Saint Paul this winter. The coaches were recognized for their dedication to youth hockey and provided with the opportunity to watch a Minnesota Wild practice, meet Wild coach Bruce Boudreau and have lunch at Tom Reid's Hockey City Pub. "These coaches give so much of their time, family and work time, to come out and work with these kids, so they probably don't get thanked enough," said Minnesota Hockey Executive Director Glen Andresen. "This is a way to recognize them." Players, parents, officials and other coaches can now nominate coaches for the 2020 Coaching Excellence Award. To nominate your coach, visit the website minnesotahockey.org/programs. CHEVY WISHES YOUTH TEAMS GOOD LUCK ON DRIVE TO STATE Chevrolet is excited for their seventh consecutive season as the presenting partners of the Minnesota Hockey Region and State Tournaments. Best of luck to all the players on their Drive to State," said DJ Raduenz, President, Select Heartland Chevy Dealers.
