93 over nearly three decades. Proceeds support oncology services as well as wellness care. The floor is named after the Pingree family, which has been a supporter of the Salem hospital. The Pingree brothers, Jay and Chris Pingree of Marblehead and Will Pingree of Hamilton, pledged $1 million in support of the medical floor. For decades the hospital has collaborated with Massachusetts General Hospital in a wide variety of specialties. NSMC Salem Hospital has been a rotation site for residents of MGH for at least 60 years, and the hospital maintains multiple clinical programs in collaboration with MGH, including surgery, neurology, orthopedics, anesthesia, and more. One in six doctors practicing at NSMC is an MGH physician, and both hospitals are members of the Partners HealthCare system. Early in 2019, NSMC launched a robotic surgery program led by medical director Sheaumei Tsai, M. D. A range of minimally invasive procedures provide one-of-a-kind access for patients on the North Shore. Also a new hybrid vascular operating room contains state-of-the-art imagining technology that captures real-time three- dimensional images, enabling surgeons to perform complex life-saving procedures. NSMC is also a partner in the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers, which includes a range of outpatient services as well as the Mass General/NSMC Cancer Center. With the consolidation of Salem and Union Hospitals into an expanded campus in Salem, NSMC is also changing the care model of Lynn. In May 2020, a new outpatient medical village will open on the former NSMC Union Hospital campus on Lynnfield Street, offering North Shore Physicians Group's primary and specialty care practices, along with imaging and lab services. Partners Urgent Care will be on site along with outpatient behavioral health services. At that time, the former Union Hospital will close entirely. "We were running two hospitals five miles apart for 20 years," Roberts says. "Now we have one campus with state-of-the-art facilities and incredible breadth and depth of expertise." nsmc/partners.org therapeutic environment is very special," says Dr. Roberts. "We can manage a person's diabetes on the psychiatric floor. The patient keeps getting behavioral health intervention at the same time, while getting special medical care for diabetes." Amenities in the Epstein Center include a rooftop garden for adults. Realizing the restorative powers of fresh air and youthful energy, planners included a children's courtyard with areas for basketball, floor hockey, and other activities. The Merry Mixers, a local organization that has supported pediatric programs at NSMC for many years, funds the recreational efforts. The Pingree Floor, located above the new Emergency Department, is designed to provide a modern and comfortable space for medical patients to recover. There are 24 private rooms each with a private bathroom and shower. Pingree contains the most advanced clinical technology, including an area dedicated to oncology care which is funded through donors and participants of the NSMC Cancer WALK held each year. The WALK has raised more than $23 million
