CASE STUDY Ed Broking Modernizes and Overcomes Compliance Challenges with Azure One of Navisite's key clients is Ed Broking, a London based insurance and reinsurance broker and is listed as a top 10 Lloyds broker and a division of BGC Partners (NASDAQ BGCP). They currently have over 10,000 employees and approximately $3B in revenue and have been working with Navisite for eight years with managed services for Exchange and hosted servers and grew to managed O365 and Azure in 2018. In just one year alone, Azure consumption grew by 194%. The Ed Broking experience underlines the relative power and simplicity of migrating to Microsoft Azure. In a matter of weeks, they were able to transfer 120+ virtual servers and 50Tb of data f rom their existing hosted inf rastructure into the cloud. ED BROKING'S CHALLENGE Ed Broking ran all core brokerage and line-of-business applications on VMware private cloud platforms hosted on-site and in third-party data centers. But these platforms were old and no longer met the needs of the business. Hardware was reaching end of life, and the organization reached a natural decision point on whether to invest a significant amount of capital in new hardware platforms; or change the way they delivered applications. Ed Broking had a number of offices located in APAC, which were difficult to service f rom their hosted platforms in London, but were becoming an important and growing revenue stream. Selecting a collaboration platform that enabled this global team to work effectively, combined with a cloud platform that could eventually deliver some applications f rom global nodes closer to the users, became an important consideration. The application stack itself was aged, and the company needed to invest in its core brokerage platforms and collaborative tools in order to remain competitive.
