Making performance management an everyday occasion Established in 1910, Hallmark offers greeting cards and other products in 40,000 retail stores. The company also operates numerous subsidiaries, including Crayola, Hallmark.com and Hallmark Channels. Hallmark is a family business and fosters a corporate culture deeply invested in caring for its 35,000 employees. Yet, even with this commitment to their workforce, the company spent too much time on the administration of talent management, relying on spreadsheets and an outdated learning management system. "The things that make us great, how much we care for each other, how much we do for employees, these are important things to preserve," said Cassie Atteberry, HR manager, talent management, at Hallmark. "Talent is so important to our business results, but we were behind the times. We had no way to capture everything in one place to get a sense of what was being doneā€”and what was being done well." Why Cornerstone After a global RFP process, Hallmark selected Cornerstone OnDemand's integrated talent management platform. The availability of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) was important. "We have experience with an on-premise system; it works, but we really like the flexibility to configure and the ongoing ease of upgrades that software as a service has to offer," said Atteberry. Cornerstone's reputation for stellar customer service was also significant. "Cornerstone sets the bar in terms of service and relationship that far exceeds any of our other vendors," said Atteberry.
