50 // APRIL/MAY 2020 USAHOCKEYMAGAZINE.COM Slap Happy Let me tell you about these brothers from hockey lore. They played for the Charleston Chiefs, need I say more? Jeff and Steve Carlson, along with Dave Hanson, are their names. They made three movies of Slap Shot fame. When these guys with long hair and tape on their glasses skate on the ice, don't be fooled by the smiles because they're not very nice. Opposing players must be ready to work and toil. You don't want these guys putting on the foil. Even the referees turn a blind eye to the antics of these three. Sending any one of them to the sin bin might result in a stick to the knee. After you played these guys in a game, You notice your face; it doesn't look the same. The Hanson brothers want to play old time hockey, that's what they say. They just lace up their skates and go out and play. They will entertain the crowd, that much we know. When you watch these guys play, they'll put on a show.
