RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame had 18 verbal pledges in the 2021 class as of Sept. 11, and there may be some movement on the commitment list in the near future. Mansfield (Texas) Legacy defensive end David Abiara has been mentioned for sev- eral months as a potential decommitment for the Irish's 2021 class, but it's possible he will remain in it. After Los Gatos (Calif.) High edge rusher Will Schweitzer pledged to the Irish, it seemed almost certain that Abiara would decommit, but the saga is still going on. • Two potential additions for the Fighting Irish's 2021 class come from the Peach State. Atlanta Pace Academy's Jayden Thomas, the nation's No. 36 wide receiver and No. 194 over- all player per Rivals, is looking to make a com- mitment in the next month, and the Fighting Irish are considered the heavy favorite. Athens (Ga.) Academy's Deion Colzie, who Rivals rates as the No. 17 wide receiver and No. 107 overall recruit in the land, has set a commitment date of Sept. 28, and the Irish are one of his finalists. Colzie committed to Notre Dame last Octo- ber before backing off that pledge in March, but it appears that the Irish are primed to land the rare re-commitment. • While Notre Dame is putting its finish- ing touches on the 2021 class and getting a strong start on the 2022 class, the Irish staff has dished out several offers in the 2023 class, which are current high school sophomores. Notre Dame offensive coordinator and Chica- goland recruiter Tommy Rees offered Chicago Marist wide receiver Carnell Tate Sept. 1. "I was excited; my adrenaline started pump- ing," Tate said after receiving the offer. "Notre Dame is a top program, and they don't give out many offers early. "I know their academics are top notch. A lot of kids at my school talk about Notre Dame and its education." — Mike Singer Follow @BGI_MikeSinger on Twitter for daily recruiting updates! In this first three games of the season, Notre Dame line- backer commit Prince Kollie ran for 349 yards and made 19 tackles.
