An NCAA ruling in August that
granted all 2020 fall athletes an extra
year of eligibility gives Hainsey the
option of returning for a fifth season
in 2021. But that's the least of his con-
cerns. Instead, Hainsey is savoring
a chance that he wasn't sure would
ever happen after 10 months of un-
certainty during injury recovery and
coronavirus concerns.
"Going to practice, honestly, in my
opinion, I've never been more excited
to practice," he said. "Maybe that's
because I got some football taken
away from me last year. I think about
it a little bit differently now." ✦
Hainsey, a two-time team captain, did not allow a sack in 252 pass plays last season.
