The public cloud vendors in this evaluation all offer globally available, on-demand, general-purpose public cloud development and infrastructure platforms with a broad range of application, database, development, and infrastructure services. 2 each also provides container services integrated with the vendor's other native public cloud services. We evaluated these container platforms against the needs of both novice and experienced enterprise customers. enterprise architects, developers, and infrastructure teams all use public cloud container platforms to build containerized applications and to operate multiple container clusters in different locations. 3 Public Cloud enterprise Container Platforms evaluation overview The forrester new Wave™ differs from our traditional forrester Wave™. in the new Wave evaluation, we assess only emerging technologies and base our analysis on a 10-criterion survey and 2-hour briefing with each evaluated vendor. We group the 10 criteria into current offering and strategy (see figure 1). We also review market presence. We included seven vendors in this assessment: alibaba Cloud, aWs, Google, Huawei, iBM, Microsoft, and Tencent Cloud (see figure 2 and see figure 3). each of these vendors has: › Comprehensive container services offered on a public cloud platform. each vendor platform evaluated is available on demand for subscription-based public cloud consumption and includes a range of tools and services for developing, deploying, orchestrating, securing, monitoring, and managing containers and clusters in the vendor's public cloud environment. We did not evaluate third-party container platform software suites for on-premises, self-managed, or managed deployment by customers on public cloud infrastructure. › Proven enterprise customer adoption and Forrester client mindshare. We included only the vendors and products most important to forrester's enterprise clients as indicated by inquiry volume. The vendor had to be able to provide two or more enterprise customer references that were actively using the vendor's own container products. › General availability in North America, Asia Pacific, and/or Europe. all of the evaluated vendor products were generally available as of May 15, 2019 and sold in at least two of these three major geographic regions: north america, europe, and asia Pacific. We did not evaluate any alpha, beta, preview, limited-availability, or prerelease features or services.
