Amazon: Forrester's Take
our evaluation found that amazon Web Services (aWS) Lambda (see Figure 4):
› Leads the pack in developer experience and runtime execution capabilities. aWS Lambda
scored highly on its current capabilities and future direction. it has excellent geographic availability,
customer adoption, developer experience for deploying functions, and ecosystem support,
especially for serverless frameworks and observability products.
› Needs to improve stateful capabilities and edge performance. Some teams move away from
using aWS Lambda because of function timeouts or a need for stateful support. Lambda@edge
allows FaaS execution closer to the edge of the cloud, but it can take significantly longer to deploy
and update edge functions than other options we evaluated.
› Is the best fit for companies with broad FaaS needs. customers deploy aWS Lambda for
myriad use cases. integration of other aWS services, internet of things (ioT), batch processing, and
event-driven integration are common and well supported.
