The hiring incentive program has been set up to
subsidise the hiring of apprentices and
unemployed individuals for a period of 6 months
6.1% of GDP for 2016-18 was from inbound
tourism.
Significant wage subsidy schemes have been
launched with 1.3 million workers expected to
benefit from the latest scheme which is due to run
for the last 3 months of 2020.
The Social Security Organisation has said that
almost 90K jobs were lost this year due to Covid-
19. 23% of the jobs were lost in Manufacturing,
15% in Accommodation and food industries while
14% were lost in the retail industry. Almost 40% of
the lost jobs were either professionals or
managerial positions with a further 19% being
technician jobs.
