pandemic. In addition to targeted assistance for the elderly, poor and unemployed, Brazil has
• Provided emergency aid to informal workers and low-income households
• Enhanced the unemployment fund
• subsidized a job retention scheme which enabled private sector employers to temporarily suspend working
contracts
