The Results The increased DDoS management and mitigation capacity provides the organization and their employees confidence that they will be protected from DDoS attacks that can disrupt their business activity and even damage the organization's reputation while temporarily working from home. The organization was satisfied with the flexibility of the AED license configuration and the ability of NETSCOUT to execute on a global procurement effort quickly and to the organization's crisis timeline. The Details With the onset of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the organization experienced an uptick in inbound traffic to data centers by employees required to work from home and access the bank's business applications remotely using the Virtual Private Network (VPN). To control costs, ensure business continuity and manage potential DDoS attacks due to the amplified threat landscape, AED mitigation capacity needed to be upgraded to correspond with the expansion in Internet traffic. With the help of the local NETSCOUT ® resources and an embedded AED and its easy-to-use software licensing system, the bank decided to upgrade 2 of their AEDs from 5G to 10G. The Situation This European bank with over 6,500 employees works on international, national and local initiatives related to a range of responsibilities from state treasury services, banking and financial supervision, protection of banking and financial intermediary customers, banknote circulation, payment system services and economic analysis. The bank had implemented a number of AED's (Arbor Edge Defense) for threat management on their business networks, including employee VPN access. The AED devices protect locally until the Internet bandwidth is consumed and then automatically sends the higher levels of traffic to their ISP for mitigation.
