Understanding OPNFV 132 geared toward these same principles. Is your organization ready to set up DevOps pipelines and automated testing? 5 DevOps CI/CD methodologies are the backbone of OPNFV. Can your operations team adapt to model driven architectures? 5 OPNFV integrates open source MANO projects that are all model driven. Can you imagine a monitoring framework where you cannot access single VNFs or instances, but rather the management is done on the aggregate cloud? 5 See Chapter 5, multiple projects assist with this aspect of managing the cloud in aggregate. Impact to Skill Set Acquisition By far the least expensive and most scalable method for a user to acquire the relevant skills for NFV transformation is to get involved with OPNFV. Just by joining the various modes of community communications, using the tools, and engaging with fellow community members, your team will gain both specific skills pertaining to the VIM, SDN controller, MANO, NFVI, service assurance, performance benchmarking, and so on, and also general cloud native skills such as model driven architectures, microservices and DevOps. There simply aren't enough formal classes in colleges or corporate training institutes to fill the skill set acquisition gap using traditional techniques. Let's revisit the skill set readiness questionnaire from Chapter 2 and see how OPNFV helps: Question Readiness: 1-5 (1 = Not ready, 5 = Completely ready) Why? Are employees permitted any time and/or access to lab resources to learn new things on their own? N/A OPNFV Pharos Labs allow members and others to integrate with the CI/CD infrastructure and run test deploys of VNFs.
