MXR-DS-basevue 11/20 BaseVue LULC Legend MMU for all classes = 1.4 hectares (16 Landsat pixels) CLASS # CLASS NAME DEFINITION 1 Deciduous Forest Trees >3 meters in height, canopy closure >35% (<25% intermixture with evergreen species), that seasonally lose their leaves, except larch 2 Evergreen Forest Trees >3 meters in height, canopy closure >35% (<25% intermixture with deciduous species), of species that do not lose leaves. (Will include coniferous larch regardless of deciduous nature.) 3 Shrub/Scrub Woody vegetation <3 meters in height, >10% ground cover. Only collect >30% ground cover. 4 Grassland Herbaceous grasses, >10% cover, including pasturelands. Only collect >30% cover. 5 Barren/Minimal Vegetation Land with minimal vegetation (<10%) including rock, sand, clay, beaches, quarries, strip mines and gravel pits. Salt flats, playas and nontidal mud flats are also included when not inundated with water. 7 Agriculture, General Cultivated croplands except paddy (rice) agriculture 8 Agriculture, Paddy Croplands characterized by inundation for a substantial portion of the growing season 9 Wetland Areas where the water table is at or near the surface for a substantial portion of the growing season, including herbaceous and woody species (except mangrove species) 10 Mangrove Coastal (tropical wetlands) dominated by mangrove species 11 Water All water bodies greater than 0.08 hectares (1 LS pixel), including oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers and streams 12 Ice/Snow Land areas covered permanently or nearly permanently with ice or snow 13 Clouds Areas where no land cover interpretation is possible because of obstruction from clouds, cloud shadows, smoke, haze or satellite malfunction 14 Woody Wetlands* Areas where forest or shrubland vegetation accounts for >20% of vegetative cover and the soil or substrate is periodically saturated with or covered with water. *Applicable to continental U.S. only. 15 Mixed Forest* Areas dominated by trees generally >5 meters in height and >20% of total vegetation cover. Neither deciduous nor evergreen species are >75% of total tree cover. *Applicable to continental U.S. only. 20 High-Density Urban Areas with >30% of constructed materials that are a minimum of 60 meters wide (asphalt, concrete, buildings). Residential areas with a mixture of constructed materials and vegetation, where constructed materials account for >40%. Commercial, industrial and transportation (e.g., train stations, airports). 21 Med/Low-Density Urban Areas with >30% of constructed materials that are a minimum of 60 meters wide (asphalt, concrete, buildings). Residential areas with a mixture of constructed materials and vegetation, where constructed materials account for <40%. Commercial, industrial and transportation (e.g., train stations, airports). info@maxar.com maxar.com Constant Improvements & Upgrades The original BaseVue 2014 LULC had 14 classes (including clouds) because of the limited amount of Landsat 8 imagery available at the time. Our most recent release, BaseVue 2016, has been updated to create a globally cloud-free product. ■ 10 meter resolution utilizing Sentinel 2 imagery ■ 2 meter resolution utilizing Maxar imagery ■ Additional classes and pricing upon customer request BASEVUE OVER SANTIAGO, CHILE (30 Meter) BASEVUE OVER SANTIAGO, CHILE (10 Meter) BASEVUE LULC TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Source of imagery Landsat 8 Sentinel 2A/2B Image currency global 2014-2017 2015-present Image currency CONUS 2011 2015-present Spatial resolution 30 meter 10 meter Classification 14 classes 14+ classes Minimum Mapping Unit (MMU) 1.4 hectares 100 square meters Coverage Global Custom Datum WGS84 Projection Unprojected geographic Processing Multitemporal, semi-automated classification Format GeoTiff raster and vector shapefile
